Hi Sonny -

Great show in Detroit on the 13th, and thanks for the photo/autograph!

I've played tenor since 1973 and you are a seminal influence.

I play well enough that Branford has let me play with his band.

I've lived in Detroit all my life. Some other players (James Carter, Kenny Garrett, Tim Reis, Rick Margitza, Dave Mann) left here for NYC.

1. Do you recommend NYC these days for an older (49...) player?

2. What can we, as players, do to direct the public's attention to actual (not Smooth) Jazz?
