At 13 years of age I began playing the saxophone. I got serious about almost immediately. I began exploring my Dad's record collection and one day I saw your name on the back of the Kenny Dorham "Jazz Contrasts" album. I realized I had heard your name before and associated it with records of yours I heard throughout my childhood. I remembered your sound and eagerly put the record on the turntable. I listened intently to your solos on "Falling in Love With Love" and "I'll Remember April". I was amazedby your elastic sense of timing, your individuality, your humor and your obvious love for music! All of these things struck me at 13 years of age. This was in 1967.
