Happy Birthday and many many more to you
from Maxine, Dexter's wife. I came to hear and see you in Central Park this summer and you were fabulous as you always are.
I was remembering an outdoor concert in Jacob Riis Park many years ago with Billy Higgins, Don Cherry, and Jim Hall. When a tugboat went by and blew its horn with that low B-flat, you answered and then the boat horn answered you. It was one of those thrilling Jazz
moments in my life.
Dexter always played along with the ships that we could hear from our terrace. Dexter loved you, as you know,
and I love you too.
