Dear Sonny Rollins,

I did not want my life to end without telling you how incredible and inspiring you have been to me.

I have listened to, and loved your music my whole life long, beginning with my childhood in the South Bronx. It was then an inherited admiration, because my Daddy dug your music, so did I. Yet. I do still, more than ever, because of your wonderful history and creativity.

After studying the violin and cello and bassoon at long last I got a tenor saxophone. I wanted to be able to make some of the sounds. And by trying,
I am more deeply and profoundly in admiration of your skills, your journeyshaping sound. Thank you
